Shoeboxes

In 2019, 282 boxes were sent to make Christmas special for children in Romania and Bulgaria. We say a big thank you to all who contributed – those who brought along things to go in the boxes, those who knitted hats, gloves, scarves and puppets, those who gave money, those who attended the quiz to raise money for shipping, and the many packers from St.Theresa’s, Stansted Free Church and the village.

We had a lovely surprise at the village packing. A young lady came who told us that, as a child in Croatia, she had been the recipient of shoe boxes. She described the excitement of the children when they opened the boxes. She now lives in Stansted and is studying for a PhD.

On the flat pack Teams4u shoe boxes is written “Love in a Box”. This is a wonderful description of what the boxes are all about. There is a lot of love going from Stansted.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

In 2017 a total of 211 boxes were packed by St Theresa’s Wednesday Club, visitors to the Place on the Hill, and at the packing evening. Thank you to all who helped and also those who brought along completed boxes – because of you many children in Liberia will experience the delight of opening a special Christmas box filled with wonderful goodies.

In November 2016 a total of 238 boxes were packed and sent to Operation Christmas Child for onward distribution to children who would otherwise not receive a present. The knitters of Stansted and Bishop’s Stortford came up trumps again with hats, scarves, gloves, puppets and bags; the tennis club gave a ball to put in every box; Millways donated paper; and many people generously gave the other items.  Thank you very much to everyone who contributed; because of you 238 children will experience the delight of opening a special Christmas box filled with wonderful goodies.
