St Mary’s School Hall was full of life, music and laughter at Stansted’s first Messy Church on Sunday 4th October. Nearly 90 people came to take part in the games and different activities. With children between 11 months and 12 years old, families and friends of all ages played together, sang together and finally had tea together.
The activities all fed into the theme for the day God Welcomes Everyone. For example, by weaving one large piece of material with a mixture of wool and fabric, each person’s contribution, whatever their age, whatever their ability, were all added together to make one whole.
The craft activities included making fresh salads, jigsaws and decorating flags; painting a banner and creating model people.
The theme was explored in the celebration when everyone could see what had been made during the activities. The children enjoyed some singing and dancing too.
